WHY IS MY COUNCIL BILL SO HIGH IN JUNE AND JULY?

Have you noticed that during the month of June and July your Council bill suddenly increases?

Have you ever pondered why? Perhaps you contributed it to an increase in consumption during the cold winter months?

Well you would be partially correct in making this assumption.

Your council bill will increase due to the use of such wonderful inventions as underfloor heating, electric blankets and so on, but a nice warm house is not the only reason for a high winter Council bill.

However:

June is the financial yearend for Council, meaning that an annual increase is in effect this month.

Then July arrives and “winter” rates come in to effect.

So there you have it, the yearly increase plus winter rates and higher consumption gives you a very high winter utilities bill.
